Water was first sprayed through the flame followed by the calcium or magncsium solutions. This operation was repeated after each absorption measurement. Under these conditions, the sensitivity for calcium was 0.5 p.p,m., and for magnesium, 0.03 p.p.m. for I[]/~ absorption.
