✦ Synopsis

The desorption isotherms ofiodine from the catalyst ofiodine-activated carbon were measured in a flow system. It was found that the equilibrium data of iodine between gas and solid can satisfy the Freundlish equation C, = Kp"" with K = 9.778 X IO-' exp (4462.2/T) and n = 1.76 where C, is the iodine content in the catalyst [kg Iz/kg carbon], p is the partial pressure (Pa). This catalyst is prepared by immersing activated carbon in an I*-KI aqueous solution.

## An investi~atjon was made on the adsorption hehaviour of activated carbons in KI aqueous solution containing very small amounts of j2. Among the major solutes in the solution, I-, f; and I:, only IL was found to be adsorbed on the carbon. The amount of the solute for a given activated carbon wa
