A twin-rib wa¨eguide optical switch is designed by the discrete spectral index method. An optimized rib height achie¨es a crosstalk le¨el of less than y40 dB with a coupling length characteristic that is weakly dependent on the rib separation, hence pro¨iding a larger error margin in fabricating the wa¨eguide switches.
