In recent years, the study of subjective well-being (SWB) has attracted much research interest. One recent operational definition of SWB is the McGreal and Joseph (1993) Depression-Happiness Scale. The aim of the present research was to investigate the convergent validity of the Depression-Happiness

✦ Synopsis
This article reports two studies aimed at validating the 25-item self-report McGreal and Joseph (1993) Depression-Happiness Scale (D-H S). In the first study, principal component data are reported on the D-H S with 194 respondents. A forced 1-factor solution confirmed the unidimensionality of the scale (item loadings ranged from .38 to .77) and thus the feasibility of a statistically bipolar measure. In the second study, data on the convergent validity of the D-H S with the Beck Depression Inventory (r ϭ Ϫ.75) and the Oxford Happiness Inventory (r ϭ .59) with 100 respondents are reported confirming the construct validity of the scale. Implications for research in social and clinical psychology are discussed along with the possible uses of the D-H S in a clinical setting.

## Objective: To prospectively evaluate the reliability and validity of the collateral source geriatric depression scale (cs-gds) administered by telephone (t-cs-gds) in patients undergoing outpatient comprehensive geriatric assessment. ## Subjects: Eighty-three geriatric patients evaluated in a
Although cocaine craving can persist for weeks after the last use and is thought to play a role in future relapses, few short, reliable, and valid instruments exist to measure craving. Therefore, we wished to examine the validity of the 4-item Voris Cocaine Craving Scale (VCCS), which was previously
In order to categorize the items of the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) so as to allow the construction of subscales, the Japanese version of the SDS was administered to a total of 2,258 undergraduates. Principalcomponent analyses of the SDS extracted three factors interpretable as cognitive
