## Heavy metal impurities occur in contaminated water resources and industrial streams in trace amounts and very often in the presence of much higher concentrations of indifferent electrolytes. It is shown that under diffusion controlled conditions, the removal efficiency of metallic contaminants
The catalytic effects of metallic impurities on the reactivity of graphite towards water vapor and hydrogen in the temperature range 25" to 1100Β°C have been investigated as a function of the oxidation state of the impurity. Iron, cobalt and nickel are active catalysts for the former reaction between
