โœฆ Synopsis

The seismic behavior of steel members in structures will be influenced significantly by differences in material properties. In order to investigate the effects of the material property differences and shape ratio of the H-section on the rotation capacity of beam-to-column connections, finite element analyses are conducted in this study. In the case of the occurrence of a ductile crack at the beam-to-column connection, it is important to take into account both the width-to-thickness ratio and the ratio of the plastic section moduli of the web to that of the full H-section. The ranges of width-to-thickness ratio in which the rotation capacity of the beam-to-column connection is not defined by strength degradation but by the initiation of the ductile crack are indicated in this paper.

The growth and branching of sharp cracks in ideal single crystals are investigated. Plane theory of elasticity lays a foundation for many important results in science and engineering. However, the understanding of the elastic solutions derived under plane stress or plane strain assumption, is far from complete. In particular, it is not clear how adequate the classical two-dimension

Traditional definitions of the ultimate displacement of RC structures are usually based on strength concerns in order to maintain a substantial proportion of the initial load-carrying capacity. This kind of definition does not reflect the true deformation capacity of structures. This work reveals th

## In this paper a correction similar to the Seewald-Karman correction for beams of rectangular cross-section subjected to flexure, is estimated and used in fracture statistics of round brittle beams under flexure. When the specific risk of fracture function is the Weibull function the volume and
