Thanks to her obsession with dance movies, sixteen-year-old Sianna Taylor believes in the Dance Partner Principle: that those who dance together, date each other. The DPP isn't exactly scientific, but she's seen enough evidence of it in her show choir to prove it's real. You spend that much time touching someone and you're bound to tap into any chemistry there.
But when sheβs assigned to dance with Alex Fajardo, her childhood best friend, Sianna finds herself hoping, just this once, that the DPP fails. Alex ditched her with no explanation back in middle school, and between her lingering hurt and her friend Ruby's crush on him, Sianna doesn't want to let Alex under her skin again. Besides, with her parents working nights and her younger brother to look after, she's got enough on her plate without adding boy drama into the mix.
To keep her focus on the future instead of on the past, Sianna decides to play matchmaker for Ruby and Alex. But as Sianna spends more time with Alex, she finds it increasingly difficult to keep her distance. Because it turns out there's more to why he cut her off than she realized.
