β¦ Synopsis
Published by Nodens Books. Leonard Cline (1893-1929) was the author of two significant literary novels, God Head (1925) and The Dark Chamber (1927), the latter of which was praised by H.P. Lovecraft, who called it βextremely high in artistic statureβ in his essay on βSupernatural Horror in Literature.β While in jail in 1927-28, having pleaded guilty to manslaughter after the shooting death of a companion, Cline turned to writing for the pulp magazines for quick money. He wrote three novels and a handful of short stories under the pseudonym βAlan Forsyth.β The Cult Murders is the first of Leonard Cline's three pseudonymous thrillers. The other two, The Mystery of the Green Diamonds and I Come Creeping , are forthcoming from Nodens Books. The Cult Murders was originally serialized in five parts in Detective Fiction Weekly , from July 28th through August 25th 1928.
