β¦ Synopsis
The structures of Mg 3 N 2 and Zn 3 N 2 have been refined from neutron time-of-flight powder diffraction data. These compounds have the antibixbyite structure and are the first such to be fully refined. The space group is Ia3 , a β«Ψβ¬ 9.9528(1) A s (Mg 3 N 2 ) and 9.7691(1) A s (Zn 3 N 2 ). A revised bond valence parameter for Mg-N bonds is suggested.
