✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The condensation products of rhodanine, 3‐ethylrhodanine and 3‐phenylrhodanine with various trialdehydes containing a 1,3,5‐triazine ring have been prepared for bacterial and fungicidal evaluation. The condensation of rhodanine and its derivatives with aldehydes, previously described for mono and dialdehydes, has thus been extended to the trialdehydes. The 1,3,5‐triazine ring is itself the basis of compounds of known fungicidal properties and may therefore enhance the already known fungicidal character of the substituted rhodanines. The trialdehydes are novel compounds which were prepared by the interaction of the hydroxybenzaldehydes and 2,4,6‐trichloro‐1,3,5‐triazine. Condensations between the rhodanines and the trialdehydes were carried out in acid medium and crystalline coloured condensation products were obtained in good yield.
