Abstract

Estimations of vitamin B~1~ on some 400 samples of wheat from trial plots have been used to establish varietal differences in content among commonly grown British wheats. Bersée and Vilmorin 27 wheat have been found to be a richer source of vitamin B~1~ than 9 other varieties tested. A general mean level of I‐13 i.u. per g. was found for all samples tested. A positive correlation between protein and vitamin‐B~1~ contents has been found, which extends to the special case of increase of protein due to fertilizer dressings.
