✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A colorimetric and quantitative test for estimating small quantities of thiophen in pure benzene has been published1 recently. A companion test is required for small quantities of carbon disulphide. The test for thiophen is applicable only to samples free from unsaturated hydrocarbons, but the test described below for carbon disulphide may be applied to any sample of benzole or petrol provided it is practically free from colour.
