As part of a survey of the properties of common brick produced in the
United States a record was made of the colors of 39oo bricks collected from over 2oo manufacturers representing all parts of the country. There is here given a rather generalized description of the color of bricks by district. The following abbreviations are used for the several methods of forming: S. M. (soft mud); D. P. (dry press); S. C. (side cut); and E. C. (end cut).
