✦ Synopsis
It appears from the G-banding patterns that the karyotypes of the wart hog (Phacochoerus aethiopicus), the European wild boar (Sus scrofa) and the domestic pig (Sus scrofa) are very similar, the differences in karyotype between these species consisting of Robertsonian translocations only. This close similarity in karyotype suggests a close phylogenetic relationship between the genera Phacochoens and Sus.
