Evidence that 'Shamouti' orange is a periclinal chimera has been obtained as all nucellar seedlings from two Shamouti trees, yielded only 'Beledi' type fruit. All nucellars from another 'Shamouti' tree bore only 'Shamouti' type fruit, thus indicating a homohistont condition in another tree source.
