โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, the polyethylene terephthalate films were modified using the dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure. The amine groups were grafted on the surface when ammonia was used as a monomer. The functional group density, which is emphasized in this work, was estimated using fluorescent label techniques and the derivatization by 4-trifluoromethylbenzaldehyde (TFBA) based on measurements of UVvisible spectroscopy and X-ray photonic spectroscopy calibrating and comparing the amine density on samples. It obtains that the ratio of [NH 2 ]/[C] was in the range of 0.4-7.3% by X-ray photonic spectroscopy, i.e. the amine group density was in the range of 1.53-16.59 NH 2 /nm 2 . The measurement of the water contact angle confirms the grafting effect by the more hydrophilic behavior of the treated surface.
