β¦ Synopsis
Synthetic antigens are simple compounds, the chemistry of which is not only known but also to a large extent controlled at will. Another milestone of modern immunochemistry is the recent availability of synthetic water-soluble adjuvants. It is the belief of the authors that an approach combining the two synthetic types of compounds, whether by administering them together or by linking them covalently to each other, may lead to products that will not only lead to a better understanding of immunologic phenomena but may be also of significant pharmacologic value.

## Abstract The mechanism of adjuvant activity of the synthetic glycopeptide NβacetylmuramylβLβalanylβDβisoglutamine or muramyl dipeptide (MDP) was studied using __in vitro__ plaqueβforming cell (PFC) response to sheep erythrocytes (SRBC). Addition of MDP to DBA/2 mouse spleen cell cultures resulte
The remarkable stability of a-ferrocenylcarbenium ions is evident from solvolysis experiments 1 as well as generation from carbinol precursors in acid media and direct spectroscopic observation. 2 The latter has also permitted determination of pKR-values for the carbinol-carbenium ion equilibria. 3
