β¦ Synopsis
In this investigation a fixed bed reactor, packed with montmorillonite grains, has been used for the semi-continuous dimerization. The effect of the process parameters, such as temperature, catalyst diameter, water content of the oleic acid and space velocity, on the dimerization yield has been determined. The activity of the montmorillonite decreases slowly in each run. This process may compare favourably to the batch process as used at present in the industry.
