β¦ Synopsis
The Breit energy of a system, which is shown to depend on the external magnetic vector potential, is exactly transformed, by applying Gordon decompositions, to a form explicitly exhibiting some of the field dependence_ The result is used to derive the leading Breit contributions to NMR chemical shifts and atomicg factors.
