โœฆ Synopsis

Room temperature tensile testing has been carried out on a number of multifilamentary Nb3 Sn superconductivity wires. Metallographic studies of the tested wires suggest that filament cracking does not occur until strains approaching 1% have been reached. This conclusion has been confirmed for one of the wires by acoustic emission studies.
