✦ Synopsis

Syngeneic thyroid extract injected into the rectus femoris muscle of guinea-pigs resulted in the appearance within the muscle of osteoblasts and the formation of bone. Injection of irritant failed to do so. It is thought that thyroid extracts exert their effect by inducing osteoblast transporation in muscle fibroblasts.
