A method for the determination of the heat flux density and the contact coefficient at the surface of a solid body, porous or non-porous, is described. A block of an appropriate material at a uniform temperature is placed on the soil surface and the temperature of the contact plane is recorded. If t

โฆ Synopsis
In a recent paper Dr. Schneider from our laboratory published some results of his research on the block-method, also called contact method (SCHNEIDER, 1969). In this letter additional information on this method is presented, so as to draw attention to some limitations in its use as a field instrument. The arguments are mainly taken from recent articles on this subject (STIGTER, 1968(STIGTER, , 1969) ) where more details are to be found.
