## Abstract The Birch reduction of 2‐(1‐alkoxyalkyl)furan‐3‐carboxylic acids 1a‐f gave 2‐alkyl‐3‐furancarboxylic acids 2a‐f with loss of the alkoxyl group in excellent isolated yields.
