✦ Synopsis

An investigation is made of the effects of the Coulomb potential and of a short range, charge-dependent inter-nucleon potential on the O+(T = 1, Z', = 1) + 0+(1' = 1, !Z', = 0) p-decay matrix element in the decay Oi4+ N14*. It is concluded that a small (m2 or 375) charge dependence of nuclear forces is sufficient to change the matrix element by a few per cent and, therefore, to account for the apparent discrepancy between the D-decay and M-decay coupling constants.
