Anodic dissolution of the hmde from %hydroxyquinoline (Ox) aqueous solutions at pH = 5.2 is attributed to the formation of insoluble organomercuric derivatives. The experimental results show that the process happens in two steps. The first one takes place with adsorption of electroactive species, wh

โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The behaviour of Sn electrode in aqueous solutions was investigated in the presence of some additives. The effect of Cl^โ^ in a very wide range of concentration (10^โ6^โ10~M~) was thourgly investigated. The effect of time, temperature, stirring, nitrogen bubbling, cathodic reduction, added cations and anions, and pH were studied. It was observed that in all cases the potential drifts positivly and the attainment of steady state potentials is faster at higher [Cl^โ^] and the differences between immersion and steady state potentials gets smaller the higher [Cl^โ^]. The stirring of solutions and the bubbling of N~2~ has little effect on the potential. The rise in temperature was found to make the steady state potential more negative at higher temperature. At 1 ~M~NaCl, the OCPโpH diagram shows two linear parts covering the pH range 1โ8 and 8โ13 indicating the presence of two different mechanisms.
