β¦ Synopsis
Bimetallic test specimens consisting of lamellae of the metals Sb, Co, Cu, Ni, Ag and Sn embedded in a Pb matrix have been subjected to anodic testing . The paper studies the effect of thickness of these lamellae and nature of the metal which forms them on the penetration rate of anodic attack located preferentially on them . It is found that under a certain critical lamella thickness the attack rate tends to decrease as lamella thickness decreases . The dissolution mechanism is discussed as well as the effects of current density and time .

The influence of Sn on the formation of the corrosion layer on Pb has been studied with a Pb-lO%Sn electrode in 0.5 and 4.5 M sulphuric acid using voltammetry, rrde and potential decay measurements, as well as photoelectrochemistry and ac impedance. The results obtained support the conclusion that i
