โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The mass spectra of ten arylsulfonylmethyl arenesulfonates and two arylsolfonylmethyl trifluoromethanesulfonates are discussed. A notable fragmentation of these compounds is the loss of CH~2~O from the molecular ions. A probable structure for the [M ๏ฃฟ CH~2~O]^โˆ’.^ ions, as based on the measurement of metastable rations, is given and a fragmentation mechanism leading to this structure is proposed.
