Background: There is evidence suggesting cross-talk among gland cells of the anterior pituitary. We had reported a rare form of synaptoid contact between corticotrophs in the anterior pituitary of the dog. We then found similar synaptoid contacts with different characteristics in the rat, as describ

โฆ Synopsis
In Zonotrichia leucophrys gambelii complete testicular development is induced in captive males subjected to long daily photoperiods. In identically treated females ovarian development is only partial. This partial development of the ovary, and the subsequent premature regression thereof, correlate with changes in activity of the "acetylcholinesterase cells" of the pars distalis. This adds to the evidence that these cells are gonadotropes.

## Abstract A fixation procedure for the preservation of microtubules and microfilaments in anterior pituitary cells is presented. Small pieces of tissue were fixed at room temperature in a glutaraldehyde solution. The temperature was gradually reduced to 4โ5ยฐC before the tissue was post fixed. Pos
