✦ Synopsis

Some mechanisms by which longitudinal waves are attenuated in non-linear viscoelastic media, whose equation of state takes into account the presence of structural changes, are demonstrated. It is shown that the degree of attenuation of a longitudinal wave in such media is a linear function of the frequency.
