โœฆ Synopsis

The ATLAS Pixel Detector is a large-scale silicon Pixel Detector aimed at the challenging task of vertexing in the harsh Large Hadron Collider (LHC) environment. It is composed of 1744 identical modules mounted on carbon staves and sectors, arranged on a three-layered cylindrical barrel structure and six disks. The design of the Pixel Detector modules has involved a long phase of prototype studies of the read-out electronics. The requirement of resolving with 25 ns time resolution the multiple LHC interactions, coupled with high radiation resistance to the instantaneous and integrated particle flux has been met in the production electronic chips. The actual mounting of the modules on the Pixel Detector staves and disks has started. Reports are presented on the integration and large-scale production status.
