โฆ Synopsis
The effect of solvent polarity on the position of the absorption band of photochromic compounds from the benzothiazoline spirobenzopyran group is investigated.
The possibility of formation of in&a-and intermolecular hydrogen bonding is also discussed. The experimental results obtained show that even in the ground state in media of lowpolaritythecoloured molecules of themerocyanine structure have a predominantly zwitterionic structure.
