✦ Synopsis

We present a coupled Finite Element (FE)-Boundary Element (BE) formulation based on Domain Decomposition (DD) ideas leading to a discrete system which can be solved naturally in parallel on MIMD parallel computers. The main components of the DD-algorithm are discussed. Finally, the advantage of coupled BE/FE discretizations is demonstrated for problems arising in technical magnetic field computations.
