โฆ Synopsis
A liquid chromatograph with a thermal detector was applied to tile gel chromatography of inorganic compounds. A thermal detection column packed with Sephadex G-15 was found to be sensitive for the detection of inorganic solutes. The sensitivity increased in the order LiCl < NaCl < CsCl < RbCl < KCland Na,SO, < NaH,PO, < < NaCl < NaNO, < NaClO,. In addition to a sample peak, some pseudo-peaks were recorded, which were concluded to be caused by the exclusion of an eluting agent from the sample zone or by the slower migration of hydroxyl ions that are in equilibrium with phosphate ions.
