✦ Synopsis
The thcorctical considmations made by .ASMUS~ arc based on the assumption that the cocffi-'cients before A and ABn (equation (I)) .do not differ from unity, In tho summary of the same paper ASMU&, hdwcvcr, states that n may aiso ba a fraction. A discrepancy. was found to exist b,ctwccn these twostatements. If n were a fraction, e.g. *, then A + *B + AR&. .,".. ! The straight-lint method is based on the photometric measurcmcnt of the complex .formed bctwccn A and B. In the present cast the compound AB) has no reality, and the complex measured could therefore only be AhB,,whkh in turn presupposes the equilibrium zA -I-B ,+ AaB. It ww therefore concluded that n may only assume values 2 I I Anal. Chim. A&la, 28 (rgG3)
