✦ Synopsis

The extraction and subsequent rapid analysis of urine samples for specific estrogens using a simple liquid-solid chromatographic system is described. Samples were analysed at pressures between 100 and 3000 Ibs./in2 and flow-rates between 0.5 and 3.0 ml/min using a high-pressure sampling valve and a pulseless pump. The estrogens were separated within 6 min on a l-m Corasil C column with an ethanolrz-hexane eluent. Detection limits were approximately 20 ng. Two different extraction procedures were compared. Using a simple ether extraction, the total analysis time was less than I h.
