A group of venous sacculations associated wth a system of glomerular arteriovenous anastomoses and numerous nerves lies adjacent to the vertebral artery. As thin walled extensions of a dural sinus, these ampullae are shucturally capable of responding to changes in venous prcssure. The function Of their glomerular connections to branches of the vertebral artery is not apparent.
