Freshwater marshes are the only significant natural ecosystems remaining in the Buenos Aires province section of the Lower Delta of the Parana River (Argentina), occupying 80% of the total island area. โฆ Synopsis
The annual discharge of the Lower Jordan River has decreased from about 1250 x lo6 m3 y-' to about 300 x lo6 m3 y-' due to water exploitation. The decrease in water discharge was not followed by a similar decrease in the suspended sediment. Evidence from air photographs and maps from 1920s to early 1970s show that the river is adjusting itself by shortening its course. The shortening is not distributed uniformly along the valley length. Local effects obscure the effect of decreasing discharge. Since the early 1970s the channel is becoming longer again due to a change in the dominant flow.

## Abstract The importance of proper water management means that the consumption of irrigation water should be estimated even in areas where data are scarce. The Mekong River, particularly the lower part, is one area where irrigation water has received little research attention. Studies that seek t
Although rewetting practices have been implemented in several cutover raised bogs, their eects on discharge patterns have not received much attention. In 1983, after peat extraction had stopped in the Leegmoor, a cutover raised bog in Germany, an experimental area was set up in order to monitor rewe
