We define the adjoint (\phi^{}) of a Drinfeld module (\phi) and discuss the duality between the (v)-adic realizations of (\phi) and (\phi^{}). We then introduce Fermat equations for the adjoint of the Carlitz module and show how an analog of Fermat's Last Theorem holds for them. 1995 Academic Press, Inc
