The sine chloride catalysed aoetylation of l-ethylcyclohexene has been reported' to afford 6-acetyl-l-ethylcyclohexene (I) together with l-acetyl-2-ethylidenyclohexane (II) as a xinor product. More recently Allard and Dufort have reported2 that the st8nnic chloride oatalyaed acetylation of l-ethylcpclohexene affords I (43$), II (36$), and l-acetyl-2ethylcyclohexene (III, 12%).
