✦ Synopsis
The absorption of gaseous dinitrogen pentoxide in the 8.1 and 5.7 pm spectral regions has been measured in the laboratory with a fast-scanning Fourier-transform spectrometer. Great care has been taken to produce as pure as possible N205 samples and, for this purpose, a flowing system has been designed. The amount of impurities such as NOz and HNOX in the cell has been evaluated from the measurement of their absorptions and the results have been used to determine the partial pressure of N205. Finalfy the total intensities of the NzOs bands located at 8.1 and 5.7 @rn have been obtained: IN2o1 (8.1 nm) = 15082 100 cm-'latm cm and I ,.+o.(5.7pmf=3580+ 167 cm-'/atm cmat 296 K.
