the arrangement with which the intensity was found in air *) the ionisation was determined in argon at pressures between 38 and 1 atm.' under layers of 12 cm Fe and under 56 cm Fe. The intensity reduced to the value for one atmosphere is 1,58 I, under 12 cm Fe and 1.46 under 56 cm Fe. The energy of the electrons ejected from the iron walls is less under 56 cm Fe (max. 45 cm) than under 1'2 cm Fe (max. 54 cm).

According to our present, more accurate, method we find for photon shocks" fxP f (C + X P)" = 0,30 for X = 0,03 and 0,31 for X = 0,06, integrating over the whole hemisphere.
