✦ Synopsis

Abelian projection

is reanalysed in the frame of the SU(N) Higgs model. The extension to QCD is discussed. It is shown that dual superconductivity of the vacuum is an intrinsic property independent of the choice of the abelian projection.

We give an optimal lower bound in terms of large cardinal axioms for the logical strength of projective uniformization (i.e., the assumption that for any projective set in the real plane there exists a projectively deΓΏnable function selecting an element from each section of the given set) in conjuct

Let G be a finite elementary abelian p-group. Given a 2-cocycle ␣ of G over the field of complex numbers, we show how to construct an irreducible projective representation of G with 2-cocycle in the cohomology class of ␣. Let S be a 2 ## Ž . subgroup of G of index dividing p . Then we also count
