✦ Synopsis
Zeeman splittings of microwave I-type inversional transitions in the vq= (OOO"l ') degenerate vibrational mode of "NH3 have been measured and analyzed. Calling 6, the pure vibrational angular momentum along the figure axis and defining the vibrational g factor by the corresponding magnetic dipole component, fit.&*, we find g,=O.95 (3) (~~=nuclear magneton). The rotational g factors of the frame, g, = 4 (g=+g,,,,) =0.5609(7) and g,=g,,=O.5081( 6), are remarkably close to those of the ground state.
Differences in the vibrational Zeeman effects of linear and symmetric-top molecules are discussed.
