Tetraphenylstibonium triflate catalytically promotes the nucleophilic addition of amines to oxiranes under mild conditions, giving the corresponding /-amino alcohols regio-and chemoselectively.

The synthesis of j-amino alcohols is a very important theme in both organic and medicinal chemistry,' and the addition of amines to oxiranes is a simple but useful metholoqy.
