Changes to security features in Internet Explorer (IE) mean that users will have problems accessing some websites in future; this could drive already annoyed corporate customers to alternative browsers.
Over the last month, a raft of industry watchers has advised organizations to consider their options after a couple of security flaws in IE were exploited in high profile incidents. This is despite the fact that many websites and internal business applications only support the Microsoft browser, which means that people using substitutes can experience difficulties in getting them to work properly.
However, Microsoft is now recommending that Web hosters and developers start evaluating what the modifications in its delayed Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 2, which is due out at the start of September, will mean for them.
