✦ Synopsis
Term value/ionization energy correlations are well known for atomic and molecular Rydberg states. We demonstrate the existence of similar correlations for solid rare gas excitons, with the band-gap energy of the solid replacing the ionization energy of the atom. By comparmg the atomic correlations with the solid-state correlattons, we conclude that solid rare gas excitons do not possess atomic parentage.
