MORE than a generation elapsed between the introduction of tendon transplantation for motor paralysis by Nicoladoni (1882) and its extensive use for permanent radial paralysis by Robert Jones (I917), whose technique is still widely used to-day. It consists of the transference of pronator teres into the radial extensors of the wrist, flexor carpi ulnaris into the extensors of the third, fourth, and fifth digits, and flexor carpi radialis into extensor pollicis longus and extensor indicis.
