Conventional liver transplantation requires crossclamping of the hepatic pedicle and inferior vena cava, leading to severe hemodynamic and metabolic disturbances, usually attenuated by the use of venovenous bypass. A more recent surgical technique, piggyback with temporary portocaval shunting, prese
