✦ Synopsis


A two-step thermochemical cycle with the ternary metal oxide system (Fe, _,Mn,),O,/(Fe, _,Mnz), -,O is applied to convert solar energy to chemical energy. Experimental investigations on the water splitting reaction of (Fe, -,Mn,), _YO revealed temporary formation of a manganese rich rock salt phase and an iron rich spine1 phase due to phase segregation processes.

From measurements of I-V characteristics of DyBa2Cu307.5/(¥0.45Pr0.55)Ba2Cu307-5 multilayers, we have experimentally determined the characteristic temperature separating the vortex liquid from the vortex solid. We suggest that the cross-over temperature is determined by the anisotropy given by the a
