โœฆ Synopsis

The corrosion of mdd steel and cast iron m cleaning solutions with dflerent mhlbltors (ahphatlc and aromatic aads) was studed by measurements of corrosion potentials, I-U curves and the geometnc shape of the pits The mdustnal conditions were sunulated by tap water (TW) with 50mM borate (pH 9 4, 70ยฐC) and a wet or dry atmosphere of 298 K The most effective mhlbltlon was obtamed m solutions with the passlvatmg Toluylalanme (TALA) This mhlbltor yielded the strongest anodlc stuft of the pitting potential and an mbbltlon of pit growth even after the anodlc uutlatlon m ddutal solutions Ex SW mvestlgatrons by a light nncroscope yielded the number, depth and lateral radn of the pits The ennchment of salt and the formation of concentrated electrolytes dunng the dry/wet cycles was snnulated m bulk electrolytes ~rlth increasing chlonde concentrations TALA Dves a protection even at higher chloride concentrations A Scannmg-Kelvin-Probe was applied to map the varymg actlvlty of the protected and unprotected surface This proves the anodlc shift of the potential and the stablhzatlon of the oxide film

The &tiency of four selected corrosion inhibitors (benzimidazole, I-hydroxybenzotriazole, henz.otriazole and Z-mercaptobenzoxazole) for the corrosion inhibition of copper in aqueous chloride media is investigated using electmchemicsl and surfsce enhanced Itamen spectroscopic techniques. To a first a
